Applus RTD are looking for a highly experienced Business Development Director with a proven track record in Sales to cover all onshore activity across the UK and North West Europe when required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for all sales activities, from lead generation through close in an assigned onshore business area. They will develop and implement agreed market plan which will meet both personal and business goals of expanding customer base in the marketing area. This exciting new role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to build their own sales team to meet business objectives.
The responsibilities of the Business Development Director will include:
- Responsible for the sales of NDT, Inspection and Rope Access services, knowledgeable in Offshore and Onshore, Upstream and Downstream Oil and Gas Sector in the North Sea. Also able to demonstrate knowledge in the Power and Petro Chemical sectors.
- Able to demonstrate good personal business connections in Oil and Gas.
- Demonstrates technical selling skills (including presentations) and product knowledge in all areas listed above that allows effective presentation of our services and products to clients.
- Develops annual business plan in conjunction Senior Management Team (NWEU) which details activities to follow during the business financial year, focusing on meeting or exceeding sales targets based on revenue and profit margin.
- Ability to sell to complex clients through formal tendering processes.
- Experience of managing/motivating a small, highly skilled team of sales and technical personnel to deliver sales targets.
- Experience of participating in a global sales function exchanging leads and collaborating to close international opportunities for major global clients.
- Good awareness of contract law and best practice.
- Strong commercial acumen coupled with excellent numerical ability.
- High level of literacy with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Understanding of pricing and proposal models.
- Demonstrates the ability to influence and negotiate with appropriate client representatives and decision makers.
- Maximizes all opportunities in the process of closing a sale resulting in the taking of market share from competitors.
- Sells consultatively and makes recommendations to prospects and clients of the various solutions the company offers..
- Develops a database of qualified leads through referrals, telephone canvassing, face to face cold calling on business owners, direct mail, email, and networking.
- Responsible for sourcing and developing client relationships and referrals.
- Demonstrates the ability to gather and submit detailed business information for underwriting, pricing, and presentation of solutions to identified prospects' business problems.
- Maintains accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities within their assigned territory, including the use of relevant software to maintain accurate records to maximize territory potential.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Participates and contributes to the development of educational programs offered to clients, prospects and company employees.
- Assisting with Business Line Budgets
- Obtaining FPAL feedback information
- Understanding of HSQE concepts and how they add value
